FAQ

Common questions

Straight answers to what homeowners and builders ask before we step on site—estimates, permits, phasing, and how we work.

How do I get started?
Call or email us with a short description of your yard and goals. We’ll schedule a site visit, walk the property with you, take photos and measurements, and talk timeline and budget so you know what to expect before anything is built.
Do you offer free estimates?
We provide clear written estimates after we understand scope and site conditions. The first conversation and site visit are how we price fairly—no surprise add-ons once work is underway.
What areas do you serve?
We work across West Michigan, including Grand Rapids and nearby communities along the lakeshore. Share your address and we’ll confirm we’re a fit for your project.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry appropriate liability coverage for residential and commercial landscape work. We’re happy to provide proof of insurance for your records or your builder.
Do you pull permits and handle utilities?
When walls, electrical for lighting, or drainage tie-ins require permits or locates, we coordinate that process and build to code. We’ll flag what applies to your job during planning.
Can we split a big project into phases?
Often, yes. Many homeowners do hardscape and grading first, then planting and lighting in a later season. We’ll sequence work so each phase still looks intentional—not like a half-finished job.
Do you only do design-build, or can I hire you for design only?
We offer both. Design-only packages work if you already have a contractor. Most clients choose design-build so the same team that drew the plan installs it—fewer gaps between paper and dirt.
How long does a typical patio or walkway take?
Small projects may take a few days on site; larger jobs with walls, lighting, and planting can run several weeks. Weather, material lead times, and scope drive the calendar—we’ll give you a realistic window before we start.
What kind of deposit or payment schedule do you use?
We use a clear contract with a deposit to hold your spot and scheduled draws tied to milestones. You’ll always see what you’re paying for before each stage.
Do you work with builders and new construction?
Yes. We coordinate with builders on grading, beds, walks, and finishing touches so the landscape matches the home’s timeline and punch list.
